A Shadow Of A Gunman

Posted in Poetry by Mark

In Memory of Captain Michael Dwyer 4th battalion. My Grandfather

A shadow of a gunman
Haunts my earliest recollections,
Of past deeds, of heroes hung,
Of Erin’s Isle with her
Child like dreams,
Shattered by gunfire
Bombs and screams.

My earliest dreams
Were of peace and freedom,
For a love lorn land,
The dreams faded,
The years now grow long,
But the deeds remain
The ghosts refrain.

“Is there an Erin for me to love?”

“Erin Go Braugh”
