This year training and scheduling will be more pro-active towards the needs of the Dojo and its membership, last year was a great success, we had some new inductees, and some people drifted away, others where simply cut loose.  I think its safe to say that the final phase of the grand experiment is at hand, what may have escaped the attention of some members in the past, was that the Dojo is/was a place that people where exposed to a wide variety of ideas, concepts and theories, some interesting some confounding and perplexing, and some just plain antagonistic, even annoying.
The purpose was to expose the would be future instructors to the gamut of experiences that they might find themselves in, either in life or in the Dojo, the purpose of education is to allow others to reach their full potential not to have them under your thumb as a minion or student, they must eventually become your equal, sadly some people didn’t stick around to find that out, but that’s life, just waiting for the bus to arrive, doesn’t mean that people are going to get on it.  The Dojo wasn’t created for students to stay in a holding pattern waiting for the next grade, or epiphany, it was/is a working Dojo, that reflected real life and all its confusing and odd occurrences, so if you stuck it out, kudos to you, and if you didn’t, then sadly the meaning of “one life one opportunity” will finally sink in. If there was any doubt in anyone’s mind before now, about the ability and character of the current membership, I can simply say that the senior members are now, not only my peers but they are an inspiration and constant source of encouragement to me, the torch can now be handed over.

“let not your flame be quenched by angst, pursue life,

live it with all the passion you can muster,

love all those around you unconditionally,

may your heart always be true”
