Summerfest 2007

Posted in Seminars by Eric

Now’s the time to polish your finest cutting swords, stretch your legs, and prepare yourself for the wonder and the glory that is Summerfest 2007. Join with your fellow practitioners from around the area for a great weekend of training and general ninjaness brought by our friends at the Bujinkan Tohoku Dojo in Poughkeepsie, NY from July 27 – July 29, 2007. Relevant information on timing, cost, and how to get there may be found by clicking on the following link. Truly, this is a great opportunity to “get your budo on” in the outdoors, practice the shuriken throwing that your spouse or mother didn’t want you to do in the yard, and make your best attempt at cutting through some ornery rolled-up tatami mats.

In the right-hand navigation, you’ll see a training image. Over the coming weeks we plan to extensively update our training photo section to include photos from seminars, etc. Please note that this is a work in progress and as such, if you click on the image the resulting page will display in all sorts of bad ways. For now, enjoy the image as is and please don’t yet click!

Tim Bathurst in New York This Week

Posted in News, Seminars, Training Notes by Eric

We had the great opportunity to train with Tim outdoors last night in Queens. Some excellent bo work…Tim will also be at Matt Hildreth’s dojo this weekend in Poughkeepsie. This is a rare and privileged opportunity to train with Tim who has come half-way around the world to conduct this seminar. It is not to be missed if you have the chance.

Monday Night Budo

Posted in News by Mark

For those of you that feel the need for more pain and suffering we have the perfect opportunity for you.

Monday evening training in Queens for those of you interested contact us by email, we will be training outdoors in a park while we have the good weather ahead, bring suitable outdoor attire, no ninja clothing allowed, black T & black sweats doesnt make you a ninja, so they are OK to wear!

We will be training with Bo staff, and covering the Kuki No Kata (nine demon/spirit form), training outdoors allows us to swing the Bo around to our hearts content, and get in touch with nature while we are at it.

If you have a Bo great, and if not just bring your regular hanbo or Half staff either will do, these have the same effect, you simply have to hit your opponent twice as hard and twice as much;-).

Any questions please feel free to ask via email.

We moved

Posted in News by Mark

Just to let you know that as of May 1st 2007 we will be training at a new location, situated downtown not to far away from the Flat Iron building, its a nice , friendly space, with showers, changing rooms, and friendly staff.  Im looking forward to training here, with the new space comes changes, changes in times, 7pm until 9pm, changes in name, we like” New York Ninpo Society” as the name implies, we see ourselves as group or collective of like minded individuals, with a common goal, to promote the values and principles of Ninpo, while providing a support group for the development of the art in our area.

This year promises to be a busy one, the summer festival is coming, Tim is visiting NY soon, our 911 fundraiser is in the planning stages, we hope to break the 10,000 barrier this year, the emphasis this year will be twofold to raise funds for Search and Rescue teams in the greater New York area, and raise awareness about Autisim, for those of you that are not familiar with this disorder, it can have quite an effect on the family unit as a whole when first diagnosed, but with Early Intervention Program’s and  the rigorous treatments that are available now with the aid and assistance of the Federal Govt we can bring about changes in our young children, that are not only remarkable but simply miraculous,  we owe all the people involved with our sons care and treatment a deep heartfelt gratitude, and I will write more on the topic during the course of the coming months.
